More inner ramblings from my brain… Another Night in the Gym

As I stand there staring at the weight everything about its screams ‘you can’t do this’. You’re too young. You don’t have enough experience. You’re a girl. You’re body hurts. You have worked  a long day. You’re exhausted. You haven’t had enough to eat. You’re depleted. You’re tired. You’re sore.

Its too heavy, Its too hard and just too much .

Screw you weight.

You don’t scare me.

Screw you excuses, expectations and doubts.

You can’t stop me.

There is no off day, bad day, second chance or giving up. I don’t prep every meal and count every macro for nothing. I don’t sacrifice a social life for sleep and spend almost every penny I make on food to be intimidated. I don’t spend countless hours educating myself or pushing myself day in and day out, just to walk away.

The decision is mine and I am not ok with accepting defeat. I am not ok with mediocrity. I am not ok with throwing my dreams just because you feel heavy.

This is my body. This is my passion.

And nothing will get in the way of that.

I’ve put in the hours and done my homework. It’s time. This is war. I’ve done whatever it takes to lift you, and I’ll keep doing whatever it takes to lift more. I’ll sweat, swear, groan and grunt. I’m going to win no matter what.

I can do this. Scratch that.

I AM doing this.

1 rep, 2 rep, 3 rep 4.

I won’t stop.

5 rep, 6 rep, 7 rep, 8.

I don’t stop.

9 rep, 10.

Done.

I didn’t do it.  I killed it.

Never underestimate me again. I am a hell of a lot stronger than you think I am.

Inner ramblings from my brain…

Life is like a heavy bench press. You need to push… and push hard. You need to do whatever you need to do to not get crushed.

Some days it will kick your ass. Some days you will second guess yourself. Some days you’ll say, fuck this is heavy. Some days you’ll have to do the things you suck at just so you can be better at the things you want to do. Some days it will be more mental and others more physical.

Face that facts. It’s not going to be easy.

You won’t set records every day. Pushing max effort day in and out will only leave you burned out and hurt. We all need time to deload. We all need to slow things down occasionally and take a step back. Everything has its time and place. Be patient, stay focused and enjoy the journey to the destination.

Technicalities, education, coaching, scheduling won’t make the task easier. They will achieving the task better. They will make YOU better.

At the end of the day, you still got to raise that bar. You are the one who is accountable for your own results. You choose how far you want take it. You decide how much you will push.

Prepare. Believe you can. Visualize it.  Know your position and be strategic. Set your goals high. Keep your ass down and head in the game. Commit 100% and drive it up

Let’s see it. Step up to the bar. Show the world how strong you really are.

Cool Interview

A few months back a new website called Rate My Arms asked me to do an interview for them. Although I have a lot of time anymore I jumped at the opportunity as the proposed questions were right up my alley. And yes,  I’m a bit blunt.

Huge thanks to my champ Maria Zlo aka. “M.Z. Hammer” for her find on the homemade Greek Yogurt.

Note: From Maria: “says to heat the milk in the microwave, but I used the stove. It takes a long time, but the actual effort involved is really minimal”
